The essential nappy and poo guide

How to write about baby poo and nappies without overloading you with images of different poos? Baby poo’s are not the most pleasant of images and I have to be honest can heighten the gag reflex. There will be some shocking nappy changes for you but be reassured you will toughen up and being aware of what is normal and what isn’t is a handy tip in early parenting. Remember this is one job both of you can do.

The fact is though, nappies are a great way for you to gauge if your baby is getting enough food and remain well in themselves, especially in those early weeks after birth. The charts below highlight the normal nappy guide for the first few weeks and also when to seek advice. This is a guide to nappy health and you may find your baby is more or less frequent in their poos. It is about establishing what is right for them. Some babies may only poo one every few days or once a week. This is not a problem so long as poos remain soft and are passed easily.
